Get Some Estimates
Free estimates are, well, free and they can provide you with a ton of information on your project details. The fact of the matter is that every project has 20 unique components that will drive the siding cost either up or down. The only way to really get a sense of the project price tag is to get 3 to 4 estimates from local contractors.
Ask Questions
One piece of advise is to go into this process as an information gathering session first and foremost. Local contractors or companies will schedule a time to come out and should bring samples of the vinyl siding, Hardiplank or whatever cladding products they work with. This is an excellent opportunity to touch and feel the products, as well as ask questions about the installation process etc. We always suggest jotting down your questions and answers on a notepad to make sure you remember the answers. By the third contractor estimate, you will be amazed at how much you’ll know about your specific project; from price to product to additional materials to installation requirements.
Compare The Bids
Take all the bids and compare them to one another. Is one of the bids 25% more than the others? If so you can probably throw it out, unless the contractor is offering something that the other companies cannot.
