CraneBoard Siding Reviews
Back in 2006, we re-sided with HardiPlank and went from one of the ugliest houses on the block to one of the nicest looking. Obviously, Hardy Board prices are more than vinyl but I think it was completely worth it. I didn’t like the Craneboard very much. If you do choose the HardiPlank, get a pre-finished option and a 15-year guarantee. One of the installers we interviewed pushed the unfinished option, which they have to paint and you have to repaint much more often. We went with a sailcloth color and think it looks great!

I put up Craneboard 7 on my home 2 1/2 years ago and I absolutely love it. It is about the highest grade vinyl you could buy at the time and cost roughly 5K less than Hardie fiber cement siding. The insulated panels are great, I guess my only issue is that you can see the seams, it would have been nice if they offered 16′ panels. One word of advice: get your house wrapped in Tyvec or something comparable to avoid moisture issues.
